“We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost's familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road — the one less traveled by — offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth.”
--- Rachel Carson, Silent Spring
One can only hope that a silver lining to the recent WV oil train derailment/explosion tragedy will be that it helps us re-orient our collective compass. We can't just stay the course anymore. As evidenced, the regulatory changes aren't nearly effective enough, and we are preciously short on time. This could very easily have happened in Livingston, hurting or killing people we know and love, and polluting our precious landscape! Let's make this a re-energizing call to arms. Together we can do this!
